Based on foundational courses taught at IHOPU, our hope is that this series of twelve study manuals will equip and inspire individuals and communities of believers to grow in the knowledge and love of God and to make worship and prayer the foundation of all other activity, so that together we would be the praying church to the glory of Jesus.

Over the past several decades, the Lord has been establishing prayer ministries across the earth. The Lord’s plan is to restore a prayer culture in the Church worldwide so that the entire Church becomes a praying people—a praying church—unto the renown of Jesus in the earth. Although not everyone is called to establish night-and-day prayer in their region, every believer and every community of believers is called to fervent, persevering prayer. For prayer to be sustained, we must not only know the truth of who He is but the story He is telling. For we are, of course, praying for something, and that something must be informed by the Bible or we are not praying according to His will.
The Praying Church Study Series begins to help us understand God’s plan for His creation and the role of the Church in partnering with the Lord in prayer to see that plan executed. Our hope is that individuals and groups alike will be inspired and equipped to engage in prayer by the teachings in this series—whether it be personal or corporate prayer. Whether your primary calling is in the marketplace, the home, or full-time ministry, the principles taught in this series will be relevant as you seek to respond to the Lord’s invitation.
About the Authors
Wes Hall
Wes Hall has been part of the leadership team of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City since 2000 and a faculty member of International House of Prayer University (IHOPU) since its inception. Formerly a practicing lawyer in the City of London, Wes now focuses his energies on intercession for revival and teaching Bible classes at IHOPU. He helped give leadership to the IHOPU Student Awakening which resulted in thousands of testimonies of physical healing, salvation, personal transformation and spiritual renewal, both locally and internationally. Wes has a passion to see God’s people gain a clear understanding of their identity in Christ that would overflow in lives of radical obedience to Jesus in every area of society. He and his wife, Carol, have three young children.
Allen Hood
Allen Hood serves as president of the International House of Prayer University (IHOPU) and as associate director of IHOPKC. Allen holds an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary. His calling is to intercede for the fullness of God to be released in the Church and to labor for the strengthening of the global prayer and missions movement. Proclaiming the glorious splendor of Christ Jesus is his joy, and preparing the Bride for the glorious return of Jesus is his burden. To this end, Allen is deeply committed to seeing unceasing corporate worship and intercession established in every tribe, tongue, and nation. Allen resides in Kansas City with his wife, Rachel, and their three sons.
