Credit Transfer

It is most feasible for students who are interested in transferring between schools within IHOPU are advised to do so within the first two years of study. In order to qualify for a transfer, students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and cannot be on academic probation. Students interested in dropping, adding, or withdrawing from a course have one week after the course starts to do so. Please visit the Registrar’s office to drop, add, or withdraw from a course.

Transferring Credits from a Non-IHOPU School or Program

  • You must submit an official transcript to the Registrar’s office by mail when you request to transfer credits or have courses waived.
  • When you make your request, you must present substantial evidence of the quality of course work, such as syllabi, graded assignments and tests, and class notes. Oral or written testing may also be required.

Credit Transfer Policy

These policies are effective as of the Fall 2014 semester. If you are a current IHOPU student or are reenrolling in IHOPU after a break in your studies, the Registrar’s office about credit transfer. Please note that you may not transfer schools within IHOPU if you are on academic probation. The policies below may not apply to you, depending on the program requirements in place during your time at IHOPU.

Transferring Credits from FMA to FSM

Freshmen

  • If you transfer after completing the first semester, 15 theology credits transfer to FSM. Music credits do not transfer.
  • If you transfer after completing the second semester, 21 theology credits transfer to FSM. You must also take and pass The Existence and Attributes of God, Foundations of Intercession, and Cultivating the Gifts of the Holy Spirit through IHOPU Online for 9 theology credits.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

  • For those who wish to transfer schools after completing the first year of FMA, requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, working with an academic advisor. You will begin FSM as a sophomore student in terms of your credits. Any exceptions may only be made by the school director or the academic dean.

Transferring Credits from FSM to FMA

Freshmen

  • If you transfer after the first semester, 15 theology credits transfer to FMA.
  • If you transfer after completing the second semester, you will be required to earn 9 FMA credits over the summer—6 music credits and 3 JPR credits. You would then start FMA as a sophomore student.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

  • If you wish to transfer into FSM after completing one year of FMI, you would begin FSM as a sophomore student.
  • If you wish to transfer into FMA after completing one year of FMI, you will be required to earn 9 FMA credits over the summer—6 music credits and 3 JPR credits. You would then start FMA as a sophomore student.

Transferring Credits from FSM-Chinese to FSM or FMA

  • If you wish to transfer into FSM after completing one year of FSM-Chinese, you would begin FSM as a sophomore student. Additionally, you will be required to take and pass the TOEFL exam (IHOPU applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 70 on the internet-based test, or 523 on the paper-based test. IHOPU’s school code is 4247).
  • If you wish to transfer into FMA after completing one year of FSM-Chinese, you will be required to earn 9 FMA credits over the summer:—6 music credits and 3 JPR credits.  You would then start FMA as a sophomore student.
