We suggest applying at least two months before the internship starts. The internships fill up fast, and we stop accepting applications when we are full. We do not keep applications on file for subsequent openings. The cutoff date for receiving complete applications is two weeks before the internship start date. Am I guaranteed a place in the internship when I apply? No one is guaranteed a place in any internship. Please only make plans to come to an internship once you have been accepted into the program. If someone gives me money for my tuition, is it tax-deductible? No, tuition is not tax-deductible. May I receive support through IHOPKC during my internship? After you begin the internship, you will be eligible to become a Student Member of the IHOPKC Organization. This designation includes the ability to process funds through IHOPKC as a deputized fundraiser, allowing you to receive tax-deductible support from donors. Once you arrive in Kansas City, contact Human Resources to begin the process of becoming a Student Member. Do I need a car or a laptop? No. However, we recommend that each intern have access to a car during the internship, as it is helpful for getting to classes and for personal shopping. If you do not plan to bring a car, and are applying for Intro to IHOPKC or Simeon Company, you may wish to mention this if you contact IHOPKC Housing for help in finding accommodation. A laptop is useful for study and communication but is not required. Where may I live during my internship? Fire in the Night and One Thing interns stay in apartments provided by IHOPKC. They may not arrange their own accommodation. The apartments have limited closet and storage space. Intro to IHOPKC and Simeon Company interns are responsible for their own housing. Find out about IHOPKC and Glad Heart housing » Can I hold a job during the internship? Fire in the Night and One Thing interns may not have an outside job during the internship. As for Intro to IHOPKC and Simeon Company interns, it would be very difficult to hold a job due to the heavy schedule so it is highly discouraged. Do interns get breaks over holidays? There are no breaks given during the year. We do, however, have a Thanksgiving celebration for interns and staff. Contact your internship office for details. Intro to IHOPKC and Simeon Company interns are given ten personal days they may use at their discretion. May I leave on a trip during the internship? One Thing and Fire in the Night interns may make a trip if it is approved by the leadership before or during the first week of the internship. Intro to IHOPKC and Simeon Company interns are given ten personal days they may use at their discretion. Can I date during the internship? Dating and courting are not permitted during the One Thing or Fire in the Night internships. They are not permitted during the first track of Intro to IHOPKC and Simeon Company. However, interns in a relationship before beginning the internship may communicate through written communication only. If the dating relationship is with someone living in the Kansas City area, this must be disclosed on the application form. Applicants who are engaged should disclose this on the application form as well. Can I apply for a staff position at IHOPKC once I complete the internship? Yes. Please note that Fire in the Night, Intro to IHOPKC, and Simeon Company interns must complete both three-month tracks to apply for a staff position. Does completing an internship count for credit towards the Forerunner School of Ministry (FSM), Forerunner Media Institute (FMI), or Forerunner Music Academy (FMA)? Yes, One Thing interns and those interns who complete both tracks receive 15 credit hours towards FSM, FMI, or FMA. This is equivalent to one semester of full-time credit. Intro to IHOPKC If I attend Intro to IHOPKC do I have to join staff afterwards? No. Intro to IHOPKC is designed for people who intend to join our staff; however, others are welcome on the program who do not intend to join staff. As parents receive training through the Intro program, the “Intro kids” also receive training on similar topics at an age-appropriate level. Our goal is to teach children the same truths that their parents are learning. Children receive 15 hours of training per week while their parents attend the Intro to IHOPKC program. Teachers equip children using an IHOPKC curriculum built around themes such as intimacy with Jesus, the end times, apostolic prayers, the harp and bowl model of worship and prayer, and intercession. What age groups are the children divided into? 1–2 years old (Note: to enroll in Intro Kids, one-year-olds must be already walking) 3–5 years old 6–12 years old What is the cost for the Children’s Tracks? The cost for each track of Intro Kids is $450 per child ages 1–5, and $550 per child ages 6–12. This cost covers the entire semester and includes: 15 hours of classes per week following the Intro to IHOPKC schedule All program materials (with the exception of snack) When are the Intro Children’s Tracks? Intro Children’s Tracks run during the scheduled morning sessions for parents, Tuesday through Friday. The Children’s Equipping Center also provides a children’s class during weekend services. It is our experience that four sessions per week plus the weekend services is the maximum time the children can comfortably spend in Children’s Tracks. What about very young children? At this time we are unable to care for babies younger than one year old. However, you only have 18 months after Track 1 to do Track 2. Simeon Company What is the difference between Simeon Company and Intro to IHOPKC? Simeon Company and Intro to IHOPKC interns attend core classes together. Some events and class components, however, are designed specifically for Simeon Company interns.
