Pas Neos’ sophomore release, Who Do You Say I Am?, is a journey through successive events in the life of Jesus as detailed in the gospel accounts, undergirded by pulsing, synth-tinged indie rock. Recounted from a range of perspectives, including those of Jesus, the disciples, and the thief on the cross, the album insightfully conveys differing opinions concerning the Son of Man. The themes of hope and joy energetically run throughout, mixed with mourning, wonder, curiosity, and longing. Each song builds a vivid scene that is potent in its ability to stir the listener’s thoughts and emotions, often inspiring new insight on familiar biblical passages. This album is a refreshing reminder to believers of the weightiness in Peter’s reply to Jesus’ question when he stated, “You are the Christ.” It will surely leave seekers more determined than ever to discover the truth of this answer for themselves.

onething LIVE: Magnificent Obsession was recorded at the International House of Prayer’s onething conference in December last year, and highlights some of the most memorable worship songs. Matt Gilman, one of eleven worship leaders featured on the record, shares: “I Iove the focused nature of this album and that it represents so well why we do what we do here at the house of prayer—because Jesus is worthy of unceasing adoration.” Although the twelve-song project reflects the musical leanings of multiple worship leaders, its theme is decidedly singular: Jesus is a worthy obsession.

David Brymer’s opening track “Worthy of It All,” one of the conference’s most requested songs, is a moving anthem depicting the heavenly scene described in Revelation 4. Similarly, “All Is for Your Glory,” led by Cory Asbury, is a beautifully sincere declaration of the Lord’s preeminence in all things, coupled with a joyful heart-cry to embrace humility. In “Wounded One,” Davy Flowers encourages worshipers to reflect on Jesus’ suffering, with echoing choruses that make great use of the vast conference venue halls. Other tracks include “Measure of a Man,” available as a free download, performed by Misty Edwards, and “New Jerusalem,” which showcases Matt Gilman’s passionate lyric and vocal. The latter song was inspired by a dream Matt had during a season of meditation on Revelation 21.

onething LIVE: Magnificent Obsession is an outpouring of the hearts of worshipers who have set their gaze unapologetically on Jesus, providing an album that extends an invitation to embrace Him as our magnificent obsession.

Bonus song: Cory Asbury’s “Never Gonna Leave Me Dry” is available as a digital song download and is included with the digital album. It may be purchased as a single digital track after the release date. It is not included on the CD + DVD.

The four songs on Measure of Love ponder the great love that Jesus has for us and consider our response to Him. Three songs, written and recorded by Misty Edwards and David Brymer, are minimalistic and reflective. The fourth song, “The Harlot,” was recorded spontaneously in the prayer room.

The NightWatch at the International House of Prayer is a group of devoted worship teams and intercessors, who follow a schedule that allows them to lead the prayer room and minister to the Lord between midnight and 6:00am every night of the year.

Simple Devotion: Worship from the IHOPKC NightWatch is a twelve-song, eleven-artist collection of songs from this dedicated group of worshipers. Simple Devotion, mellow and inspiring, represents the heart of our nightly worship and intercession.

Leah Morgan’s “Servant in the Night” opens the album with a gentle, acoustic declaration of willingness to serve through the night. It’s an appropriate opener, since Leah has been a part of the NightWatch since its inception in 1999. Davy Flowers, Clay Edwards, Jaye Thomas, and Alisha Powell build the intensity with their respective tracks, “Blessed Be Our God,” “You Uphold,” “Wounded One,” and the rousing “High Priest,” before Clay’s wife, Sarah Edwards, settles out the tempo with her contemplative song, “It’s My Joy to Love.”

Justin Frederick’s “I Trust You,” Sada Rogers’s “Teach Me,” Emily Bisinger’s “Fascinated,” and Elizabeth Bedford’s “Find a Friend” maintain an atmosphere of devotion that one can easily imagine carrying a group of worshipers though the early morning hours, before Sarah Edwards closes the album with “I Am Loved by God,” a beautiful benediction at the end of the night.

The NightWatch finds a global audience for its nightly worship-with-prayer meetings through the live webstream from the prayer room, webcast across the world. From international communities to third-shift workers, first responders, and others, thousands of believers are encouraged and inspired by the worship and prayer in the middle of the night from the International House of Prayer. Flowers states, “It is a beautiful idea to be adoring Christ in the middle of the night, when all kinds of corruption and immorality are happening—when we worship Him, it is a statement to the powers of darkness that He is King!”

About This Album

A record number of 25,000 young adults gathered in December 2010 at our annual onething young adult conference. onething LIVE: Before His Eyes captures worship songs from this conference and features nine of our worship leaders, offering a clear taste of the diverse worship styles that have been borne out of the International House of Prayer’s years of worship and prayer.

Jaye Thomas, with two tracks on the album, notes: “Leading at the onething conference with 25,000 believers gathered in worship is, for me, a tiny glimpse into what it will be like when Isaiah 24:16 is fulfilled, which proclaims ‘From the ends of the earth we hear songs, “Glory to the Righteous One.”’”

Jaye is joined by fellow worship leaders Misty Edwards, Laura Hackett, Cory Asbury, Matt Gilman, Justin Rizzo, Audra Lynn, Luke Wood, and Jon Thurlow on an eleven-song tour of some of the most evocative moments of worship at the conference. Jaye kicks the album off with “Only One,” a passionate, high-energy song that’s sure to engage the listener from the get go. Successive tracks showcase the distinct sounds characteristic of the nine worship leaders.

Matt Gilman gives a meditative take on “As the Deer,” building the song through yearning choruses, while Laura Hackett’s “I Feel His Love” delivers her own intimate lyrical voice. Misty Edwards contributes the focused and intense “To Be with You,” a declaration of desire to be in God’s presence.

Jon Thurlow’s “Strong Love” brings a blue-eyed soul approach to worship, while the album-closing “Reason To Dance” from Cory Asbury follows the ringing in of the new year, with a celebratory closing that is an appropriate, upbeat book-end to Jaye Thomas’s opener.

Indie electronic duo, Pas Neos, offers a fresh musical take on a wide range of biblical passages in their debut album, The Wheat and the Tares. Keyboardist Caleb Culver and guitarist/vocalist Bob Powers, with years of experience on worship teams at the International House of Prayer, creatively interweave Scripture with pulsing, engaging melodies, taking the listener on a reflective journey, both poignant and bracing. Their preservation of the integrity of rich biblical passages is served by skill and stirring melody, as synthesizers, strings, and, at times, a chilling vocal performance, bring to life Jonah’s marching orders, Joseph’s dream, the nativity, the resurrection of the saints, and other significant moments in the biblical narrative. The progressively creative sound of this duo seems to extend musical bounds just a little more with each new track. The Wheat and the Tares is a compelling and thought-provoking experience of truth.
