Worship Is More Than a Music Style

Misty Edwards is known for her worship leading style of infectiously honest songs based on the truth of Scripture and the beauty of Jesus, which lead many into corporate worship and encounter with Jesus.

But it’s her latest album, Little Bird, that is the topic of conversation for this recent Relevant magazine podcast. About an hour into the podcast, we hear from Misty—a Forerunner Music, Dove-award-nominated artist—about her thoughts on producing a worship album in a studio setting, the true meaning of worship, and her development as an artist.

Released in late December 2014, the 11-song project follows Misty’s critically-acclaimed live worship album, Only a Shadow, from 2013. Seen by some as a slight departure from Misty’s norm, Little Bird’s lyrical strength delves into the poetic interpretation of biblical truths through a personal lens. This recent work comes with Misty’s signature worship style, honesty, and lyrics that evoke questions and thoughts about God.

This 10-minute interview is packed with wisdom gleaned from fifteen years spent serving the Lord in worship at IHOPKC. Misty also encourages worship leaders and songwriters who desire to develop and make music to the Lord that leads others in worship outside of the corporate setting.
