Why is the university charging a fee for using my credit card to make a payment?

International House of Prayer University is committed to providing students a range of options for paying their educational expenses. The cost of the credit card payment method is becoming exorbitant because of the fees credit card companies charge the university. Therefore, a 3 percent convenience fee will be added to all credit/debit card payments to offset these fees.

How can I avoid paying the convenience fee?

You can avoid the 3 percent convenience fee by using the following payment methods:

Cash, money orders, checks, and cashier’s checks made payable to IHOPU with student’s name and tuition (e.g., “Sally Smith, Fall FSM Tuition”) written on the memo line. Payments can be received in person or by mail at the IHOPKC business office located at the Red Bridge Center, 3535 Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, MO 64137. Office hours: Mondays through Fridays, 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Can I make a credit card payment over the phone?

Yes, you can make a credit card payment over the phone by calling the accounting office at (816) 763-0200 x.2201. Office hours: Mondays through Fridays, 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Can I make a credit card payment in person at the business office?

Yes, we will continue to accept credit card payments at the counter at the business office.

Which credit cards are accepted for payment on my student account?

IHOPU accepts all credit cards.

Do other universities charge a convenience fee for credit card transactions?

Yes, an increasing number of schools are collecting convenience fees for credit/debit card transactions.

If I make a credit card payment in error will my convenience fee be refunded?

No, the fee is non-refundable, even if you receive a cancellation, refund, credit, or chargeback for your payment.

Will the convenience fee appear on my student account statement?

The convenience fee will not appear on your IHOPU student account statement. It is assessed in addition to the payment for your student account.

How will this appear on my credit/debit card statement?

The payment amount plus the 3 percent convenience fee will appear as one transaction on your credit card or bank statement as “IHOPU Online.”
