Press Center » Press Releases COVID-19 IHOPKC Updates March 20, 2020 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Effective 6pm, March 20, 2020 In the spirit of Romans 13:1, IHOPKC recently closed all facilities to the public. Federal and local governments have restricted gatherings to groups of 10 per room to combat COVID-19. Being committed to caring for our community and continuing to submit ourselves to our governing authorities, we are requiring our staff to honor these limitations in addition to ongoing social distancing. We are mobilizing intercessors in separate rooms to pray and connect to our worship teams through livestream at ihopkc.org/prayerroom as well as other technologies. Children’s Equipping Center – Official Statement In light of the rapidly changing issues surrounding COVID-19 pandemic, the Children’s Equipping Center has suspended all weekly program practices and will focus for the duration of this unfortunate suspension on communicating and teaching the gospel for children online through our established communication networks. It is our heart to continue impacting and equipping a generation in wholeheartedly devotion to the Lord. CEC departments will be mobilizing our children to continue in prayer, worship, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Stay tuned for more information. Lenny and Tracy La Guardia IHOPU – Official Statement Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of IHOPU: The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the most unusual and fluid challenges that any of us have ever faced. The leadership teams here at the International House of Prayer University and the International House of Prayer have been working many hours together to make the best decisions possible for the well-being of our students, interns, and broader missionary staff and spiritual family. As the situation has changed daily, it has not been easy for us to gain clarity. We thank you for your patience with us as we have worked through many different issues and challenges. As per March 18, 2020, the IHOPU campus was closed, and students have been asked to return home by Sunday, March 22, 2020, for the remainder of the school year. One Thing Interns will continue their internship remotely in conjunction with the fourth quarter of IHOPU. We will resume an “online internship” on March 30, 2020, at 6pm CT. Intro to IHOPKC, Simeon Company, and Fire in the Night directors are making arrangements regarding how these internship tracks can be completed remotely. Some students have made Kansas City home or have connected in a real, profound way, and chose to stay locally. We welcome that within federal and local guidelines along with, where applicable, parental consent. More information on how to stay local followed this announcement, and we are committed to the well-being of the students that chose to stay local. All fourth quarter FSM, FMA, FMI and Chinese classes have been moved online for remote instruction. This includes the semester-long, skill-based courses that are in progress, as well as our Prayer Room Practicum (worship and ministry teams, in an adapted online format). We believe that our online instruction is world-class, amongst the best online training in America in format and interactivity. Therefore, we are confident that we can still meet our educational, spiritual, and character-based goals via this platform. Spring Break has been extended by one week with online classes commencing March 30, 2020, at 6pm CT. We will announce decisions regarding Commencement for the Class of 2020 in the days to come. Wherever we reside during this season, IHOPU is a student body and part of a spiritual family, and we are the Body of Christ. The end goal has not changed: together, we will finish this school year and internship tracks strong. Students will gain credits to graduate or be ready for next fall if they so choose. More importantly, we will continue to reach for God together. Students who have received this message will continue to connect with their teams to brief throughout each week in online groups, praying together, worshiping together, and reaching for the Lord together. We thank you for your patience and willingness to engage with us in night-and-day prayer for breakthrough, which is needed now more than any time in recent memory. Blessings to you with great peace in this season of uncertainty, David Sliker Vice President, IHOPU Forerunner Church Forerunner Church is continuing to closely monitor COVID-19 updates and the implications for our church and the broader community. Due to concerns about public gatherings, and in compliance with measures instituted by the state of Missouri and local authorities, we have decided to postpone Forerunner Church public gatherings until further notice. We will livestream an online service Sundays 10am (CT) and likely make adjustments as things progress.
