Is there a deposit?
Yes, there is a $300 security deposit due at the time of booking which is applied toward the first month of rent. The deposit is refundable when cancellation is communicated by thirty days prior to date of intended occupancy.
How do I check in and out?
You must come into the Housing office to complete paperwork. However, if you arrive when office is closed, you will find your keys in combo box located outside of Herrnhut office, next to swimming pool. You may check out before 10am by dropping your key off in the black drop box located in the same area.
What furnishings and furniture are included?
Furnishings: Iron, ironing board, mop, broom, microwave, pots and pans, general kitchen items, dishes, silverware, glasses, toaster, trash cans, shower curtain, bath rug, wall hangings.
Furniture: Sofa and chair, two end tables, coffee table, dining table with four chairs, four table lamps, queen bed (may vary), dresser.
Do I pay for any of the utilities?
Monthly rent includes water, gas, electric, and trash pick-up. Any other service is your responsibility.
Do you allow pets?
No, we do not allow pets at Herrnhut.
Can I walk to the prayer room?
Herrnhut Apartments is right next to the prayer room at the Red Bridge Center; walking is encouraged, but we recommend that you do not walk after dark. Women and girls are advised to use caution and to be accompanied by a male.
Is there a washer and dryer in the apartments?
No, but there are coin-operated laundry facilities available in every building.
Do Partners receive a discount?
No, there is no Partners discount on month-to-month rentals.
May I cancel my apartment reservation?
If you cancel by thirty days prior to the date occupancy was to begin your deposit of $300 will be refunded to you. We do not refund for cancellations within a month of occupancy date.
Leased Unfurnished Apartments
What size apartments do you offer?
Herrnhut Apartments offer three different-sized apartments. Prices below reflect a 12-month lease.
- The 1-bedroom floor plans range from 750 to 875 sq. ft. Rent is $700 per month.
- The 2-bedroom floor plans range from 900 to 1200 sq. ft. Rent is $850 per month.
- The 3-bedroom floor plan is 1375 sq. ft. Rent is $950 per month.
For a nine-month lease, add $20 to the monthly rates above.
For a six-month lease, add $40 to the monthly rates above.
How long is the lease?
Leases are available for 6, 9, or 12 months.
Are there washer and dryer hook-ups in the apartments?
No, but there are coin-operated laundry facilities available in every building.
What utilities are paid?
Water, sewer, and trash pick-up.
How much is the security and key deposit?
The security deposit at Herrnhut Apartments is $550.
What appliances are included in the apartments?
Standard appliances include a range (cooker/oven), refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and central heating/air conditioning units.
Do you allow pets?
No, we do not allow pets at Herrnhut.
How many people may live in an apartment?
Two people may live in a one-bedroom apartment, four people in a two-bedroom apartment. and six in a three-bedroom apartment.
What penalties apply if I vacate prior to the completion of the lease?
Renters who vacate prior to the completion of their lease incur the following penalties:
- 12-month lease: renters lose their security deposit and must pay an additional 3 months of rent.
- 6-month lease: renters lose their security deposit and must pay 2 months of rent.
Do you allow subletting of the apartment?
No subletting is allowed.
Are you in cooperation with Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, accepting government payment on behalf of low-income leaseholders?
No, we are not part of this program.
